The Duckworth Lewis Method
"Sticky Wickets" (2013)
On this jaw-dropping, genre-blending follow-up to their self entitled debut disc - Messrs. Duckworth and Lewis wear their influences on their collective sleeve with nods to the legends that are The Who, The Beatles, the Stones, Prince, Steely Dan, ELO, and even Hatfield and the North(?)!
From pop to prog from rock to funk, leaving no genre untouched before it's time, this ain't cricket... it's "Sticky Wickets" and it's music to my ears.
Kudos to Neil Hannon (Divine Comedy) and Thomas Walsh (Pugwash) - "Sticky Wickets" is a joy to listen to again and again - and that's well played, Gentlemen - well played!
